Falmouth in the Super Bowl fervour

Guests aboard the Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas, which docked in Trelawny on Tuesday, February 7, experienced the Live action of Super Bowl.

ESPN Caribbean assembled a team of talented sports commentators and analysts, renowned soccer and NFL athletes and affiliates with other cruise guests who watched the game at the main theatre and its state-of-the-art studio, and enjoyed a special interactive half-time show with NFL players.

Charley McDonald, director of events and activities for Royal Caribbean, said: "There could be no better place to watch the Super Bowl than sailing the Caribbean. The smiles on our guests faces, the sun setting against the most amazing skyline, cooling Caribbean breezes, the ESPN team and NFL players sporting eight Super Bowl rings - it's a tremendous opportunity for our us."

innovative

Falmouth was the second stop of a seven-day western Caribbean cruise which began in Fort Lauderdale and stopped in Labadee, Haiti, before Falmouth. Cozumel, Mexico, was the final stop before returning to Florida.

Bernard Stewart, vice-president, ESPN Caribbean and Maritime Media, called it "a most innovative way for ESPN to combine the excitement of one of the world's most-watched sporting contests, and one of the most beautiful regions of the world".

ESPN Super Bowl at Sea provided "a singular opportunity for guests to rub shoulders with players and hear what it's like to be in the big game and in the NFL", Stewart said.

The ESPN on-air team also shared insights on the game during the breaks, while ESPN International aired the Super Bowl to cruise lines throughout the Caribbean and to more than 68 million households in 162 countries.

Oasis of the Seas cruisers who disembarked in Falmouth took advantage of a range of tours and attractions in Trelawny as well as in Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. Many enjoyed the sites and sounds at the Falmouth Cruise Ship Pier, including a cultural group, mento band and craft and coconut vendors.
